What is considered a formulary contact?

I wear Acuvue Oasys with Hydraclear Plus and also Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism. I was wondering if these contact lenses are considered formulary, and if not, which contacts are?

Question

My doctor says two weeks. However, is the office staff right in saying that a 6 month supply is 12 contacts per eye?

Thank you for your question. ACUVUE® OASYS® Brand with HYDRACLEAR® Plus should be removed and cleansed daily and replaced every two weeks OR worn continuously up to six nights then replaced with a fresh pair. Ask your eye doctor which wearing schedule is right for you. Keep to your eye doctor's recommended wearing schedule with friendly reminders from ACUMINDER™.

Question

For a 6 month supply of the Acuvue Oasys with Hydroclear Plus, how many boxes would I need to buy???

Would 1 box per eye, provide me with a 6 month period of wear time? An optometry group is saying that 1 box (6 lenses per box) per eye will last me 6 months? Is this correct?

Thank you for your question. For reusable ACUVUE® lenses that are prescribed for 2 week replacement, an annual supply would equal eight boxes. For reusable ACUVUE® Brand lenses that are prescribed to wear continuously for a week, an annual supply would equal 16 boxes. For lenses you wear for a day, then throw away, an annual supply would equal 24 boxes.

Good question. Each sterile contact lens (Acuvue Oasys, Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism, Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia) is snugly sealed in a foil-sealed plastic package containing buffered saline solution with 0.005% methyl ether cellulose.

You should always follow the recommended care instructions of your eye doctor and the product labeling of the contact lens solution. Proper care of your contact lenses plays an important role in achieving your best possible contact lens wearing experience. Your eye doctor can recommend the best product for you and your lenses.
