Thank you for your question. Your doctor will be the best person to determine the right lens for you, but for minor amounts of astigmatism ACUVUE® OASYS™ Brand Contact Lenses for PRESBYOPIA [http://acuvue.com/products-acuvue-o...] can be a good choice. With moderate to significant astigmatism a monovision correction with ACUVUE® OASYS™ Brand Contact Lenses for ASTIGMATISM [http://www.acuvue.com/products-acuv...] may be a better solution. Let your doctor know you are interested in contact lenses, and ask for a recommendation on which lens type is right for you.

Question

What is the difference between Oasys Hydraclear Plus and the Oasys Bifocal?

I wear the Hydraclear Plus. One lens for distance and the other for close up. I'm wondering why I couldn't wear the Bifocals?

The Oasys Hydraclear Plus has the HYDRACLEAR® technology which permanently embeds a higher volume of moisture-rich wetting agent, resulting in a more wettable lens for all-day comfort—even in challenging environments. Bifocal contact lenses are designed with only two zones of vision in the same lens, and is designed to correct presbyopia (a condition where the eye loses the ability to focus up close, typically occurring after age 40). Let your doctor know you are interest, and ask for a recommendation on which lens type is right for you.

Question

Can I get Multifocal lenses from Acuvue?

I used to wear Acuvue and found them VERY comfortable. About 6 months ago, my eye doctor switched me to multifocal lenses, which i really appreciated because this enabled me to give up reading glasses. Unfortunately, Acuvue did not have a multifocal in my prescription at that time, so my doctor put me in Bausch & Lomb PureVision multi-focals. While the multi-focal part works great, i do not find them comfortable and would REALLY like to switch back to Acuvues. My B&L prescription for my left eye says BC: 8.6, PWR: -8.00, ADD: High. The right eye says BC: 8.6, PWR: -7.75, ADD: Low. Can you help me get back into Acuvues?

In the meantime, your Eye Care Practitioner is the person best qualified to determine what steps to take for your vision needs. Thank you for your interest.

Thank you for your question. You can determine the appropriate orientation by placing the lens on your finger so that a cup is formed. Then hold the lens up directly in front of your eyes so you're looking at the side of the cup. If the top edges of the lens are flared out, it's inside out. If the top edges point up, resembling a bowl shape, it's in the correct position.

Question

Why are you eliminating the bifocal contacts? Your new presbyopia lenses don't work for me even tho I only use a +2.75 for reading.

I've used your bifocal lens in one eye for reading and mid-range (as a variant on mono-vision; my distance is fine) for about 2 years. It's worked beautifully. I now need to strengthen my mid-range a tiny bit (from +1.75 to +2.00). Seems simple enough. But my Dr. tells me that your bifocals are no longer available and that they're being replaced by the Presbyopia line. I've tried all your Presbyopia lenses in all sorts of one and two-eye combinations and they don't work. Either I can read but not see beyond 10-20 feet or the inverse.

My vision is not THAT bad; my vision needs can be easily solved with drugstore reading glasses (+2.00 for mid-range & +2.75 for close/reading range). However, I don't want to wear or carry reading glasses -much less two pair!

Please don't stop producing the bifocal lenses!! It's an idea that may work on paper but, at least in my case, not in actuality.

Question

Multifocal contacts for astigmatism?

I currently wear Acuvue Bifocals. My opthalmologist says I have a slight astigmatism but not enough to warrant giving up bifocal contacts. Will Oasys for Presbyopia lenses be available with astigmatism correction in the future?

Also, right now, are Oasys for Presbyopia lenses available in the New York City area?
