Thank you for contacting us about our product line. While we are always expanding the range of sizes and configurations available, I’m sorry to say we currently do not make lenses that meet your needs or have a timetable when they may be available.

Your comments help us assess and meet consumer requirements, and I have passed your request along to the appropriate people here at Johnson & Johnson Vision Care. As technology advances, perhaps we will be able to serve your specific needs in the future. In the meantime, your Eye Care Practitioner is the person best qualified to determine what steps to take for your vision needs. Thank you for your interest.

Thank you for your question. However, Ask ACUVUE® is not the proper forum to solicit personal medical advice. Please ask your eye doctor, who will be in the best position to provide an answer to your question.

Question

I need ADD correction factor for reading of+2.25. Why can't I get that?

On the ADD correction factor for reading, my doctor can only get +1.75 or +2.75. The 2.75 adversely affects my distance vision and the 1.75 is not strong enough for reading. It feels like +2.25 would be ideal but my doctors says that's not available.

Maybe. Only your eye doctor can tell you for certain. Be sure to discuss this at your next appointment. If your eye doctor feels that contacts are still an option, we believe that ACUVUE® Brand is an excellent choice.

Thank you for your question. There are several differences between these lenses. ACUVUE® OASYS™ Brand Contact Lenses for Presbyopia are the next generation of multifocal contacts for people with presbyopia (a condition where the eye loses the ability to focus up close, typically occurring after age 40). This lens features the optical design of STEREO PRECISION TECHNOLOGY™ and the exceptional comfort of HYDRACLEAR® Plus. The result is balanced vision near, far and in-between, across variable lighting conditions, along with remarkable comfort – even in challenging environments that can make your eyes feel tired and dry. ACUVUE® OASYS™ Brand for Presbyopia combines HYDRACLEAR® Plus technology and a high-performance silicone hydrogel, into a state-of-the-art formulation. ACUVUE® OASYS™ Brand for Presbyopia also allows for greater breathability, wettability, smoothness, and UV blocking than ACUVUE® Brand Bifocal.

Question

Explain "D" and ADD

I am thinking that the "D" is for distance? But after reading your site info - maybe that isn't right??? I am being trialed on Acuvue for Presbyopia and after having one pair not work - they are tweeking the "D" -.
I am not sure why but the ADD numbers are different on both lenses when on my actual prescription for glasses my eyes are the same -
I would appreciate any explanations or thoughts on what "D" does in terms of near or far
and why ADD power would be differing in each lense when my intial script for glasses is the same.
I do know that my Left eye is the dominant one.
Thanks for any help - I want to be able to use these lenses but right now they are not helping me to read up close

Thank you for your question. The ADD power indicates the difference needed between the distance and near vision portions of the lens. Lenses with LOW ADD power are appropriate for lower degrees of presbyopia, while MID and HIGH ADD lenses are for more advanced degrees of presbyopia. Along with the power, a contact lens prescription will include the base curve (BC) which is used to match the curvature of the lens to your eye and the diameter (DIA) which is used to match the width of the lens to your eye.

Question

I wear Accuvue for Presbyopia. Can you guys please make these in colors?

It would be so much easier to see them. Accuvue could be the first to make colored multifocal contacts. Everyone should have the luxury of having colored contacts. Its not fair to be punished just because your sight is too bad to qualify for colored contacts! If you have no choice but to wear them, at least having the option to wear colors makes it not so bad. It is fun to have pretty eyes! Can you please consider blazing the trail with Colored Accuvue for Presbyopia?

Question

Why don't you make a daily disposable ACUVUE Oasys for Presbyopia?

I have tried the ACUVUE Oasys for Presbyopia contact lenses and am very pleased with the results. However, I really can’t stand handling and cleaning the same lens for a week. I currently use daily disposable lenses. Are you planning on making a daily disposable version of this (or other multi-focal) lens?
